Leading a group of people can be one of the most fulfilling, exciting and rewarding adventures of your life -or- leading people can be the most perplexing, stressful, frustrating and dreadful challenge you have ever faced.

Many say that leading a team is the most perplexing undertaking they have ever been involved in.

WARNING: Leadership Myth Exposed.

Many misunderstand what it is to be a peacemaker believing that to keep the peace, I must look the other way or it's no 'big deal', I'll fix it later.

Fixing things later because it's no 'big deal', will guarantee that 100% of your fixes will be 'big deals'.

Fix it while it's small! Avoid the 'big deals'.

So, how do I fix it?  That is what the newsletter is all about!

Is leadership...stressful, frustrating and dreadful to you?

Did you know that effective leadership is governed  by a series or laws, principles, concepts and formulas?

Sign up for the FREE Engineered Success Leadership newsletter and learn 101 sure fire tips to greatly magnify the energy, synergy, unity, efficiency and effectiveness of your team.

Set your team up for success. Is everything you do setting up the correct environment? If so, your teams effectiveness will skyrocket. It does not matter if you lead a sales, operations, clerical, administrative, marketing, merchandising team, if you want a high energy, efficient, effective, high morale and accountable team, you must build it. Creating this type of team is NO accident. It is your responsibility.

When the economy is tight and competition is tough, we must lead a highly focused, world class, high achieving team. There is absolutely no room for sloppy leadership. Is your team performing at a maximum level?

Imagine this: You can lead a selfless, highly effective, efficient, high morale team that is unified and wraps its arms around your values, vision and mission!  A team like this is an amazing thing to see.

A formula or recipe?

The Engineered Success Leadership Formula is just that, a formula. You will learn a step by step recipe or formula to follow in order to become an effective leader. The formula is based on the Law of Cause and Effect or Reaping and Sowing and completely aligns with "Rock Solid" core values. You will learn what it is that great leaders do and why. You will learn the step by step formula. You will also learn that if you alter the recipe, you will get disappointing results. Since there is a formula for effective leadership, you will be able to see where the breakdown is in your leadership ability or in your teams alignment with your vision. There are also sub-formulas such as how to coach, how to provide effective positive and corrective feedback and more.

Type "A" Personality Required?

Well actually, your personality has very little to do with effective leadership. I know many extroverted effective leaders and many introverted effective leaders. Effective leadership has more to do with relationships, what you do and willingness than your personality.

That being said, personality and attitude are two different things. Your attitude has everything to do with being an effective leader. Negative Nanny and Gloomy Gus will not be effective leaders whether introverted or extroverted.

A  leader recently asked me, "Is there a 'Reset Button' I can push to re-center or re-focus my team? We seem so fractured and ineffective. It seems like we have many teams not one. Several visions; not one. We are at times our own worst enemy."

See the Question and Answer page for more. Click here.

Throughout the pages of this newsletter, we will explore what it is to truly lead. You will learn the difference between Leadership and Management. You will learn a common sense rock solid formula for effective leadership. You will also learn your strengths and weaknesses and you will discover where the breakdown is in your leadership ability or organization and you'll discover exactly what you need to do to fix it!

Is your team firefighting or constantly running from fire to fire? Are you addressing the same problems over and over?

Whether you are leading a small team or a large corporation, you will discover what you need to do to build an effective, efficient and high morale team!

Is your team lacking initiative? Are you an inconsistent leader? Does your organization lack the necessary structure? How is the morale of your team? Is your team reaching it's full God given potential?  What is success anyway? Are all relationships professional, positive and strong? Have you had a tough time shifting accountability to the team and are you shouldering all of the load?

Effective leadership is all about being planned, proactive and intentional. Eliminating the gotcha's and accidents. Never being reactive, haphazard and accidental and knee jerk. Placing a high value on relationships and sharing the accountability.

Every leadership principle, law or concept you will discover in the newsletter must pass the ultimate test. Everything must go through the 'filter'.

This is the filter...

"Do my actions, words and attitudes or the actions, words and attitudes of my team or organization help us do what we are here to do?"

"Does it help our organization achieve it's vision?"

If the things we say or do help us and perfectly aligns with our values and vision, we should by all means...do it!

If it not, we should STOP doing it.

The Engineered Success Leadership Formula will show you how to lead effectively and the formula is perfectly validated by the above filter.

You really can have an organization that has the necessary balance of structure and relationships. A high achieving, effective, efficient, positive, upbeat, enthusiastic, unified and high morale team that aligns perfectly with rock solid core values.

In the newsletter, you will learn that peacemakers are absolutely necessary in business. However, you will learn what the correct definition of peacemaking is!  You will also learn that there should be structure in your business and you'll see how to achieve a correct balance between peacemaking and structure.

Leadership is more about people than it is system things.

Lets fix the people things and the system things will take care of themselves.

Lets get people who share our vision and values and they will help us fix the system things.

Effective leadership also includes sound financial and operational controls, effective marketing, solid customer relationships. These are also topics to be explored in the Engineered Success Leadership Project Newsletter.

The 80/20 rule

You and I should be running most our business or organization on autopilot. In fact, 80% of your business should be autopilot and 20% should require your "Hands on the stick" direction. Yet, sadly most organizations are just the opposite. 80% exceptions, accidents or problems and only 20% planned, proactive and intentional. Where are you?

Additionally, the 80/20 rule indicates that 20% of our activities generate 80% of our results, so we'd better be working on the right things!

Your values and vision should be leading your team!

Are you and I setting our team up for success? Are we engineering the end results we desire?

Many leaders ask me, “What issues or problems are many leaders facing in their organizations today? Am I all alone?”

You’re probably expecting me to answer “People issues.”  And you’re right, almost. The answer is people issues, personnel issues, organizational issues or team issues. But dare I say that these issues are NOT usually caused by the people themselves, but by the manager.  What I see most places are leadership issues. This has been a huge paradigm shift for me over the past 25 years and I suspect it will be a paradigm shift for you as well.

Many leaders tell me that if it were not for customers, the members, vendors and employees, this would be a great job!

There is a monumental crisis eating away at most organizations today. In many cases, it has the potential to steal the joy from every member of the team. It hinders success, piles on monumental stress and it robs the teams’ efficiency and it looks like this…

Let me describe what the issues that the vast majority of leaders and team members tell me they are facing every day. In some form or another, in their own words!

These issues straight from actual team member and leadership surveys.

  • There is an incredible lack of accountability.
  • Everyone does that which is right in his own eyes.
  • Change is too difficult.
  • I cannot seem to execute or implement any needed change.
  • I am not satisfied with the majority of my team members.
  • My employees are holding me hostage.
  • Our company values, I'm not sure what those would be.
  • If I push them, they’ll leave.
  • The declining work ethic in America is the cause of all our problems.
  • You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.
  • My people are running all over me.
  • I have no control.
  • Too many visions and directions.
  • My people are manipulative.
  • My boss is manipulative.
  • I talk till I’m blue in the face and they don’t change.
  • I am just a number.
  • The boss does not care, we're just a number.
  • My people never change.
  • My team members do just enough to get by and absolutely never more than they are expected to do.
  • They have no initiative.
  • They do fine when I’m watching, but when I’m off or on vacation, it all falls apart.
  • I get the front door shut and the back door flies open.
  • Communication in my company stinks.
  • There are too many chiefs.
  • Communication channels are muddy or do not exist.
  • I have no idea how I’m doing.
  • Too many teams; not one unified team.
  • I don’t know how to coach.
  • I don’t have job description?
  • I’ve never had an assessment or evaluation.
  • Strife goes unaddressed.
  • There are too many managers with gigantic ego’s.
  • My boss has manager-itis. A disease that puts the manager above all others,
  • Confusion is unbelievably high.
  • No one knows which end is up, even my boss.
  • I move from fire to fire. It’s out of control around here.
  • I give feedback and its worse than if I never addressed it.
  • I give feedback and the employee punishes me for doing it.
  • My workplace is so negative.
  • All we ever hear is what we’re doing wrong.
  • Negativity, cynicism, chit chat, libel, slander are all part of a days work.
  • The boss plays favorites.
  • And much much more.
